Summer dresses by the King’s Road

Summer dresses by the King’s Road

Lockdown has lifted, the shops are all open again and there’s a summer of freedom on the agenda. From bank-holiday BBQs to weddings and staycations, these are the dresses you’ll have on repeat until the end of September.

For summer BBQs

Even a summer BBQ can feel like the social event of the year these days, so we’ll be ditching the usual low-key attire in favour of something a little more exciting this time around. Case in point, this embroidered maxi dress from Anthropologie (which will also double up as a great wedding guest look later in the year). Zadig & Voltaire’s Wild Garden dress will also do nicely for matching with the flowers.

For UK staycations

Off for some sun, sea and – crucially – change of scenery? Opt for easy-to-wear maxi dresses that are just as at home on the beach as they are on a long walk or out for a relaxed dinner. We love these styles from King’s Road favourite Anthropologie and new arrival Aspiga. Find them at their new Chelsea pop-up at 192 King’s Road.

For city weddings

This tie-front linen style from Reiss is a chic choice for urban weddings (and will also be your best friend when it comes to the meal!). Alternatively, try a bolder cut and print with this striped A-symmetric dress from Anthropologie. In breathable and light linen, it’s a great option regardless of what the forecast throws your way on the day itself.

For country weddings

For a cool, retro style that’s dressy but not too dressy, RIXO is our first port of call. In a ditsy meadow print and a flattering silhouette, the Gemma dress is perfect for a country wedding. Want to mix it up? PINKO’s jacquard jumpsuit in bold green will ensure you can spot yourself in all the photos (… and it’s on sale!).

For working through a heatwave

Comfort is key when it comes to working through a heatwave. Go for easy-breezy gingham dresses in this season’s most popular silhouette – smocked at the top, diaphanous at the bottom. GANNI and RIXO both have some great options, whether you’re back in the office or trying to find WiFi in a sunny garden spot.
