Victoria & Albert Museum
Saturday, 6 April 2019 – Sunday, 16 February 2020
The King’s Road is proud to sponsor the V&A exhibition, Mary Quant and to celebrate the Road’s rich heritage, as well as looking to its future as a home for the next generation of creatives and era defining pioneers. The road has always been at the forefront of fashion trends, from Mods to Punks, Sloanes and New Romantics as well as a playground for Mary Quant, who transformed the way we dress, and her brilliant boutique, Bazaar.
This exciting exhibition explores the years between 1955-1975, tracing the way Quant challenged established fashion conventions; popularised the mini-skirt, colourful tights and tailored trousers, encouraging a new age of feminism. Through 120 garments alongside accessories, cosmetics, sketches and photographs – mostly never seen before – the exhibition will showcase how Quant, from the beginning on the King’s Road, inspired women to rebel against established fashion “rules”.
Book your tickets now to see never-before-seen designs and begin to understand the incredible career of one of Britain’s’ most iconic and revolutionary fashion designers.
