The Michael Hoppen Gallery opened in Chelsea in 1991 and is founded on a passion for photography. As a gallery we are renowned for nurturing the careers of new and interesting artists and exhibiting them alongside acknowledged nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first century photographic masters.
Our exhibition programme reflects the diverse range of subject matter and process that photography itself continues to develop and our clients range from collectors and fans of photography to public and private museums, corporate collections and experienced collectors to those who are embarking upon their first photographic purchase. The gallery regularly works with diverse and important institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and Tate Modern, London, The Pompidou Centre, Paris, The Getty Museum, California, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and MOMA, New York among others.
We aim to present all those who come to the gallery with something unexpected; to broaden their perception of what photography can be while providing the expertise to understand it.
