Womenswear brand Eileen Fisher has spent the last 30 years uniting their efforts to support the environment, human rights and initiatives for women and girls working towards their Vision2020.
Their vision is for an industry where human rights and sustainability are not the effects of a particular initiative but the cause of a business well run and where social and environmental injustices are not unfortunate outcomes, but reasons to do things differently.
Vision2020 focuses on the core elements of their brand; fibres, colour, resources, people, mapping and reuse. They have pledged to use the most sustainable fibres (ALL organic by 2020!); they are working with brands to create responsible dyes; investing in alternative energy and cutting reliance on air shipping to make all of their US retail and office spaces climate positive; supporting the human rights of the artisans who create their products and their communities and finally reusing so that yesterday’s items can be reborn as new textiles or new clothes – all of these incredible feats make Eileen Fisher stand out for doing their bit, how fashion should.
