This summer, there’s a new kind of Made in Chelsea in town. The Fashion School is hosting numerous creative workshops for children with a keen interest in sewing and fashion over the summer holidays.
Budding designers can sew, style and sketch through a choice of varied courses. Whether it’s a passion for fashion illustration, a love of design or simply indulging a crafty streak, the workshops cover every area of fashion – from sewing a dress from start to finish to upcycling items from your family’s wardrobe into something new and exciting.
With a focus on sustainability and re-purposing, the summer school gives back to the community through hands-on tutorials from fashion-industry experts – whether it’s a seamstress with decades of experience or an up-and-coming designer, fresh out of fashion school and setting up their own label. All tutors have at least a BA (Hons) in Fashion or Textiles and have experience within the industry and/or running their own business – so there’s plenty of knowledge they can pass on to designers of the future.
The perfect foundation for budding fashion designers or illustrators aged between 6-19 (check individual workshop information for full age ranges), workshops range from one-day crash courses to a full week of fashion fun. From drawing to design and pattern-cutting to patchwork, sewers new and old will be able to pick up plenty of new skills and hone their existing ones.
On your marks, get set, SEW!
